Story Description: Who’s controlling the violent partygoers showing up in dance clubs around the city? And why does the sinister music somehow sound familiar?

Story Arc ID: 5008
Author’s Global Chat Handle: @El Furioso
Length: Long (3 missions)
Alignment: Neutral

Designer Notes: Scalable to all levels. Appropriate for both team and solo play (although the end might get a bit tough for those soloing without status protection). I hope you find the custom enemy group deep and diverse, since that was my goal. This was originally built during the Issue 14 Closed Beta, and has been tweaked several times (for both balance and functional reasons) since then.

I think I’m a sucker for Praetorian arcs. Ever since I saw Spock with the goatée, I was fascinated with the whole “parallel universe” thing. So creating missions with alternate versions of other Paragon City personalities seemed inevitable. I’m guessing this won’t be my only one.

(Editor’s note: Now that CoHMR has gathered up nearly 200 missions for review (as of this writing), I feel okay finally posting one of my own. It seemed a little sketchy to me if I started off the site with my own arcs. -El)

Loved the arc, very impressive (and sometimes annoying) custom group. The second map was a little confusing to navigate and find the objectives, but otherwise, that was insane. Very great job.

Simply put, the best arc I’ve run in the Mission Architect yet. The custom faction was well-balanced and well presented, the mission briefings and mob chatter was extremely well written.

I did have a little trouble hunting for glowies in the second map, but it fits the theme so well I wouldn’t want to see it changed to something more navigable.

    @GlaziusF in-game

Live feedback from a high 30s DB/fire brute, because Mission Engineer isn’t account-wide. Yet.

Ah, a sinister Pocket D thing. I’m on board, I’m not bored.

…why, yes, it would be a giant coincidence if I found the missing guy in the one Pocket D-related building he would have passed by. Thanks for hanging that lampshade, Dram.

(Seriously, at least have him add “but you’ve got to start somewhere, right?” as a rider to that. Otherwise he just looks more desperate than he is.)

    Mmm, burning office.

…uh, whoa. You’ve got a custom lieut with rage and invuln and another with sonic barrier. Put together that equals one dude who never misses me and has 90% resistance to my attacks.

Did you scale these guys back after the custom enemy buff? I’m guessing not.

The enemy boss was interesting. Black Dram, maybe? We’ll see in time, I guess.

On another note, all of the minions only seemed to use MA, whatever they were called.

Okay, so the audio deck is going to open one of its seven mouths, and sing the song that ends the earth, or whatever? Guess I should stop it then.

Okay, undispellable pharmacist debuff + rage is also a giant pain.

The end room of the Freaklympics is always empty. It’s a “special spawn” location, like about half the Coralax cave.

So why does DJ Zero keep around the ingredients for the mixtape of death, anyway?

Ugh. With Null and another tech and a pharmacist in the final spawn I dealt basically no damage and was getting hit through four lucks.

Seriously, this thing needs a rebalance pass after that customs buff, since you can basically have lieutenants running around at the resist cap while your hit and damage are run into the ground.

Glazius called it right; I hadn’t gotten the chance to tweak some of the custom critters since the last patch… and apparently it shows. My bad.

So now they have been tweaked. Hopefully still challenging, but I wanted to make sure that mobs shouldn’t be just steamrolling.

Thanks for keeping me honest, G. :)

Looks like ElFurioso changed the enemies, they were tough but not overpowered (playing a 27 DB brute). Fun story, and long enough to be interesting but not too long.

The Freakolympics map can be tough, but it fits the story so well I wouldn’t change it.

    I definitely recommend it.
